Callans Claims Wilson/NFCA Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week Award

Louisville, Ky. – Maryville University graduate student pitcher Alyssa Callans was named the Wilson/National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Division II Pitcher of the Week for the period ending March 7, 2021. She becomes the first player in program history to earn the national weekly award from the coaching group.

We had not seen a dunk in women’s college basketball since Brittany Griner did it in 2013, but Francesca Belibi has already dunked twice in the 2020-2021 season. The 6’1 sophomore forward for the Stanford Cardinal can truly throw it down, and she’s quickly becoming one of the most exciting players in the country.

The American Gold Sports Alliance is proud to announce the launch of our Youth Advisory Committee!

The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a sub-committee of the American Gold Sports Alliance. The YAC is comprised of a group of young people who are passionate about youth representation, have a range of experiences in sport and physical activity, and want to make sure that young people have a voice in deciding how opportunities are developed and delivered for their peers. The YAC will provide you with a unique opportunity to work with the American Gold Sports Alliance, our members, and partners to influence how sport for children and young people is better prioritized and coordinated to deliver social change and make a positive, lasting impact.

Skier Has Sights Set on Paralympics After Overcoming Setbacks

Paige VanArsdale is a skier with cerebral palsy. After suffering a concussion in 2017 during her Paralympic training, she faced more obstacles than she imagined.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. — Carving through white powder while representing the Stars and Stripes — it’s been a goal for Paige VanArsdale for nearly her whole life.

“I’ve dreamed of it ever since I started skiing when I was three years old,” she said.

FROM THE US LACROSSE CEO: AT THE HEART OF IT ALL

Like many offices, mine includes a host of items that, for various reasons, I’ve chosen to display because they have special meaning. It’s much more a shrine of experience than accomplishment.

Of course, there are a few items that are easily explained — small plaques from North Carolina’s 1981 and 1982 NCAA championships, a framed jersey signed by the members of the first Uganda team to compete in a world championship, pictures of my two children as infants and high school graduates.

Three Competition Venues Announced for The World Games 2022

Birmingham CrossPlex, Legion Field and Boutwell Auditorium Join Protective Stadium

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (Feb 2, 2021) – The World Games 2022 will put the best that Birmingham has to offer front and center to the countries across the globe. The announcement of three new competition venues for The World Games 2022 by The Birmingham Organizing Committee today showcased the city’s history and commitment to excellence front and center. Legion Field, Birmingham CrossPlex and Boutwell Auditorium, in addition to previously announced Protective Stadium, are four of the 25 official venues hosting an array of sports when The World Games 2022 commences in July of next year.
